It’s Spring! Or is it?

It’s Spring! Or is it?

The calendar tells us that it is spring. And not just spring but one month into spring. So, why do I keep thinking that spring is right around the corner and that this is really just the third month of the year? The trees have leafed out; the dogwoods, daffodils, and tulips are long past blooming; flowers are opening up in every yard.  But…there’s that weather  thing–warm one day, cold the next, and on and on and on, day after day after day…

Nonetheless, I am beginning to plan my garden pots because I know that the temperature will turn any day (or week?) and those tender babies that I lovingly plant will be safe. My only concern is that when Mother Nature chooses to provide consistently warm weather, will she decide that the calendar is telling her that it should be hot ? Overnight, my  concern could become whether those tender plants will burn up before they have a chance to take root and become hearty. It seems, just like Mother Nature, I am confused–but hopeful.

Right now, I am dreaming of lushly planted pots with unusual and exciting plant combinations, like these…

Happy planting!
